10 Places to Visit in Southwest Michigan

Whatever reason you are planning to travel, sometimes you need to think about what it is that you would like to do while in a certain location. If you are planning on heading to the Southwestern part of Michigan, then here are a 10 places to visit.

Captain Mike’s Fun Park is a family friendly fun park on the southwestern side of Michigan. It has indy style go-karts, mini golf, bumperboats, trampoline basketball, batting cages, and an arcade for people of all ages to enjoy.

The Silver Beach Carousel has been going since 1910. It is a part of the Silver Beach Center which also has a Silver Beach Amusement Park Museum, Shadowland on Silver Beach, Curious Kids’ Discovery Zone, Whirlpool Compass Fountain, and a beach you can enjoy!

The Felt Estate is a museum home of a millionaire. It is considered a mansion that was set in the 1920s, known as the time of the roaring 20s. You can have a self guided tour or a private tour.

Neils’ Dutch Village is a theme park that is set in the Netherlands dated back to 100 years ago. At Neils’ Dutch Village, there are Dutch themed presentations and demonstrations, a petting zoo, and rides that you will have access to with the purchase of one ticket. The tickets are $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, and $10 for children.

Outdoor Discovery Center is a non-profit outdoor education center that stretches 110 acres wide and long. It has a lot of ecosystems and walking trails, and this is a perfect location if you wish to see wild animals. The trail entrances are located on the southwest corner of the Fillmore Discovery Park.

There are many antique shops in downtown Niles and St. Joseph. If you plan to shop in St. Joseph, check out some of these shops: Blue Moon Vintage Market, DK Boutique, Lana’s Boutique and Lazy Daisy, or Purely Michigan store. Not only is there a flea market in downtown Niles, but there is Niles Main Street which is a road full of antique shops and boutiques. There are also restaurants too. Some shops that you would find there are Niles Styles and Four Flags Antique Mall.

Binder Park Zoo is another great location in southwestern Michigan. There are different animals from giraffes to bears. At certain times, they offer the opportunity to feed the giraffes.

The Gilmore Car Museum is a museum that preserves historical cars to showcase the history of automobiles. According to their website, this car museum is the largest car museum in North America.

There are plenty of wine trails and tours that are easy to enjoy. If you are looking for a wine tour service to try, try the Grape & Grain Winery Distillery Brewery Tours. They offer special packages for different days to tour on. You could also try Fruitiful Vine Wine tours as they offer deals as well.

Niles Market  is a farmers market! It is a nice place to be friendly and make friends, and a nice place to purchase produce, flowers, cheese, and bread.
