Breweries to Visit in Outer Banks, NC

North Carolina’s Outer Banks has long been a bustling hub for visitors. Beautiful beaches, historic shipwrecks and the first English settlement in America attract visitors from far and wide. When planning your trip, we recommend booking your stay through Shoreline OBX Vacation Rentals. Stay within the comfort and privacy of a private vacation home while still being close to the many attractions the Outer Banks has to offer. In addition to the better-known tourist attractions, the Outer Banks is also becoming known for its microbrewery scene. These four local breweries are a must-see for beer enthusiasts.

Outer Banks Brewing Station

Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina’s Outer Banks Brewing Station is the country’s first wind-powered microbrewery. The 92-foot wind turbine standing inside the backyard beer garden has become an Outer Banks icon associated with good food, good beer and good times. Live music acts play in the beer garden most summer nights, and a pirate ship playground provides entertainment for the younger patrons.

Weeping Radish Farm Brewery

North Carolina’s oldest microbrewery, Weeping Radish Farm Brewery is located in Grandy. The food and beer are mostly German in style. A Master Brewer came from Germany to brew the first batches in strict accordance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. Corolla Gold, Fest and Black Radish are still brewed to the strictest of standards in addition to a growing repertoire of other brews. Weeping Radish also produces its own award-winning sausages. Easily accessible from anywhere in the Outer Banks, the Weeping Radish makes a great day trip.

Lost Colony Brewery and Cafe

Lost Colony Brewery and Cafe is located in Manteo just around the block from the Roanoke Maritime Museum. Lost Colony specializes in British and Irish style brews. Of particular note is their acclaimed porter. The award-winning microbrewery is housed in a former boat shop on the historic Manteo waterfront. The beer garden is dog-friendly and the food is renowned. Lost Colony Brewery makes a great lunch spot after the nearby Manteo Saturday farmer’s market.

Northern Outer Banks Brewing Company

Northern Outer Banks Brewing Company is the newest addition to the Outer Banks microbrewery scene. Northern Outer Banks offers four 6% ABV beers: Corolla Saison Ale, Penny’s Hill IPA, Swan Beach Honey Pale Ale and Corolla Lager. Enjoy a flight in the tasting room, or, since this brewery is conveniently located in Corolla next door to Cosmo’s Pizza, head outside to enjoy some locally crafted brews in the sunshine with a meal.
