Fun Things to Do With Your Pet in Killington, Vermont

Killington, Vermont is a beautiful place to visit. Summer provides perfect hiking weather while the winter months turn this area into a skier’s paradise. It’s no wonder families enjoy this vacation spot, and if you’re a pet lover, that family vacation includes even the furriest members of your group.
Stay at the Paw House Inn

Killington’s Paw House Inn welcomes both you and your dog to enjoy a wonderful stay while visiting Vermont. All rooms can accommodate up to two dogs of any size for no addition cost. You’ll enjoy lodging in this historical inn while having plenty of room for your best friend to run and play. There’s even a dog friendly swimming hole downstream.

Explore the Killington Ski Resort

Dogs are not allowed to be on the mountain during the winter ski season, but the scenic resort is open to pets throughout the rest of the year. Here you and your pet will find wonderful hiking trails to enjoy with terrific views of the surrounding mountains. It’s an especially beautiful place to enjoy the fall foliage.

Visit Gifford Woods State Park

Pets are welcome to hike the Appalachian or Long Trail with you in this amazing park. Gifford Woods is home to one of Vermont’s last remaining old growth hardwood tree stands. The forest is filled with grand sized beech, sugar maple, white ash, yellow brick, and hemlock trees. The park is dotted with picnic areas and camping sites that the entire family can take advantage of.

Hike the Trails

Nothing compares to Killington’s numerous hiking trails. The Ice Bed Trail will take you and your pet to an actual glacier, and the trails at Chittenden Reservoir and Lefferts Pond cover 18 miles of waterfalls, Pico Peak, and frozen lakes. As you and your leashed companion follow The Robert Frost Trail you’ll discover the inspiring inspiration of the poet’s legendary works.

Go for a Swim

People will find many great swimming pools at the local Killington lodging, but if you don’t want your fury friend to feel left out, go for a dip at Kent Pond. Kent Pond’s surrounding park is quieter than many of Killington’s other locations. Enjoy a serene picnic along the shore or a quiet walk in the woods. Finish your day with a swim together in the 100 acre lake.
