West Michigan Beaches

West Michigan is the home to beach towns because of the perfect location on Lake Michigan. Michigan’s West Coast becomes alive during the summer months. Most of West Michigan’s Beaches are not far from major Michigan cities like Grand Rapids. See what the beaches along Lake Michigan have to offer on a summer day and summer evening.

Grand Haven

The town of Grand Haven has many beaches including Grand Haven State Park, North Beach, Grand Haven City Beach, Rosy Mound Natural Area, Kirk Park, Olive Shores, and P.J. Hoffmaster State Park. Their beaches are known for being very sandy. What is unique about the beaches in Grand Haven is that they are recognized by many travel magazines for being a top travel destination in Michigan.

Holland

One thing that the town of Holland is known for is their wooded parks. Holland has these beaches and state parks: Holland State Park, Tunnel Park, and Laketown Beach. Holland also shares some of the same beaches as Grand Haven since they are nearby each other. Things to do in Holland other than enjoying the beaches are visiting the lighthouse and Holland’s unique Dutch village.

Muskegon

The city of Muskegon is known for things other than their beaches. It is a large spot to camp and it is known for its amusement park called Michigan’s Adventure. The beaches of Muskegon include Muskegon State Park, Duck Lake State Park, Pere Marquette Park, and their dog friendly beach called Kruse Park. Their beaches are known for being sandy with forestry along the sand dunes.

Saugatuck

Saugatuck is a small town known for having smaller beaches. But those smaller beaches have been recognized across the world. The beaches in Saugatuck include Oval Beach, Douglas Beach, Sagatuck Dunes State Park, and Pier Cove Beach, Laketown Beach. Saugatuck also shares some beaches with other cities located near it. Visit Saugatuck to see why their unique and smaller beaches are known across the world.

Silver Lake

Silver has a number of beaches, and their beaches are also known for having a lot of sand dunes. The work to climb up the sand dunes to get to the beach is worth it. Silver Lake beaches are Charles Mears State Park, Benona Township Park, Cedar Point County Park, Claybanks Township Park, Crystal Lake, Golden Township Park, Little Sable Point Lighthouse, Silver Lake State Park, Whiskey Creek Public Access, and Silver Lake Sand Dunes.

South Haven

South Haven, Michigan has fun trails and is an amazing spot for sunsets. The beaches of South Haven include South Beach, North Beach, Newcome Beach, Oak Street Beach, Packard Park and Beach, Deerlick Creek Beach, Dyckman Beach, and Woodman Beach. A unique thing about North Beach in South Haven is that it is ADA accessible.

St. Joseph

The beaches of St. Joseph include Grand Mere State Park, Jean Klock Park, Lions Park, Rocky Gap Park, Warren Dunes State Park, and Weko Beach. Some fun things to do on the beaches of St. Joseph include bird watching since St. Joseph beaches are known for having beautiful birds throughout the area. Another fun thing to do in St. Jospeh is to sit in a spot on the beach that gives you the perfect view of the lighthouse and the pier.
